Refraction.
Refraction, in physics, refers to the bending of a wave, such as light, as it passes from one medium to another, due to a change in its speed. For instance, when light travels from air into water, it slows down and changes direction, resulting in the bending effect we observe.
Metaphorically, refraction can be likened to the human experience of personal transformation. Just as light bends when entering a new medium, individuals often adapt and change direction when encountering new environments or challenges. This bending doesn't signify a loss of identity but rather an evolution, allowing for growth and new perspectives.
In literature and art, the concept of refraction symbolizes the fragmentation and reassembly of the self, illustrating how experiences can alter one's perception and identity. Thus, refraction serves as a powerful metaphor for the dynamic nature of personal growth and the continuous journey of self-discovery.
